The Tootsie Roll

So there I was. Sitting in a car, driving to Stratford for Halloween. There were lots of people out, and the city was bustling with excitement. I was dressed as Slender Man, sitting in the middle seat between my two sisters. I was holding onto my bag for dear life. Man, I loved Halloween.I was holding on so tight that I could feel...something in the bag...and it felt like candy. "What? I thought I cleaned this last year..." I said to myself. And then I realized that my mom had probably snuck it in there, you know, as a treat. Only...it looked a little strange. The cover said "Tootsi" and the "i" was a little warped, as if unfinished. "Ha, lazy producers." I opened it up without thinking, and what I saw horrified me. The "Tootsi" roll was all white, with a little message on it. It said "IT'S TOO LATE" written in all caps, and again, the last letter was unfinished. Now, I wasn't a big fan of those vanilla-flavored Tootsie Rolls, and it had the cover for the chocolate ones. So obviously, the company was playing a prank on the paying customers for Halloween. I decided I would taste it, just a little lick. Instantly after the lick, my vision went white, and I could see nothing. I think I may have fainted, but I don't know exactly what happened. When my vision returned, no kids were out, except for some in some very realistic looking zombie costumes. They were even acting like zombies, moaning and dragging one foot. Their clothes were painted red, for the effect of blood. Their faces had chunks of skin missing, and a little brain exposed. "Wow, great costumes!" I said out loud. But no one answered. And when I said that, my voice sounded horribly wrong. It sounded overly deep, a bit demonic, to say the least. None of the kids even turned my way when they heard it. So they either didn't hear it or were just really great actors. I realized that the car had stopped. I said "Hey, mom, what's up?" And when she turned my way, I knew something was terribly wrong. She had empty eye sockets and black blood pouring out of them. Her mouth was stitched shut, and she didn't have a visible nose. So basically, she was Voldemort on meth. But she wasn't speaking. Neither was anyone else, and now they were all looking at me. They looked the same as mom, so I was pretty freaked out. I wanted to close my eyes but, for some reason, they were stuck open. I REALLY wanted to close my eyes right about now, because they were all moving closer. I still couldn't. I had to stop them somehow, and the first thing that popped into my head was "The Tootsie Roll!" I grabbed it and threw it out of the window. As I did, they loomed away, and floated quickly over to it. Their presence frightened the trick-or-treaters (Which I now realized were not trick-or-treaters at all, but the living dead, also hungry for the Tootsie Roll) who then attacked the my scary-looking family. It was sort of entertaining, watching demons and zombies fight over a piece of candy. I picked up my bag, and I felt something in it. It was another Tootsie Roll.
Uh-oh.
