The Dark Road

All adventures, especially in a new territory, are scary. It was summer holidays, we buddies planned to move camping as we do every year. After a lot of brainstorming, we chose "Baghdara", a lake near Udaipur, an untouched beauty where Chetan had recently been with his parents.
So on Saturday, the five of us piled into Puneet's van and packed our stuff in the huge trunk. We entertained ourselves on the way by listening to music and playing games.

Chips, chocolate and snacks were passed around. We almost didn't realize that the sun was going down already. It was getting dark, enveloped under vast giant jungle trees. All if a sudden van stopped with a weird sound. We asked Puneet what had happened and why he had stopped the van. Puneet said, "It seems that something has gone wrong with the van. Let's check." We all moved out and tried to find out the problem, but could not figure it out.

We tried to find a mechanic nearby. Chetan and Sumit moved in one direction, and Sachin and I in the other. But all of us failed as it was already too dark and it was a jungle area. While returning back to the van Sachin and I saw a light 800meters from us while walking. Sachin shouted, "Oh! Look there seems to be a house or a hotel." So we moved the van on the roadside, locked it and moved towards the building. We could only see a glimpse of it in the lighting for a fraction of seconds. "Yeah here it comes!" We reached the main gate of the building; we saw that it was huge old architecture.

We shouted in front of the huge iron gate, "Is there anybody in? Can someone hear us… Hellooooooo!!" Sumit opened the door with a banging sound and a cracking noise, cheerrrrrrrrrrrrrrdrrrrnnnnnn, we ran straight towards the door, knocking but got no reply, and we realized that the door was already open.
So we ran inside the abandoned old place. The library, even though it looked as if it had been closed for years, was filled with books! Horror stories, fantasies, autobiographies, you name it, they had it.
Sumit said "Hey, no one is here, let's take some of these books!" So Sachin and Sumit did. They took a whole shelf full of them. It was Puneet among us who was worried of taking them. Sumit said, "Whoever owned this place is dead. What are they going to do, stop us? Besides, if we don't take them, who will?"
On our way out we found out that the door was locked. We found it weird because the door was unlocked when we moved inside. We were all shocked and asked ourselves this when all of a sudden row upon row of bookshelves started to fall, one hitting the other, like a set of dominoes! Lightning flashed! Thunder rolled! All of us were on the verge of wetting ourselves!
All of us heard a voice, like an old lady, who just got her tonsils taken out. She moaned, she murmured indecipherable words, her voice stuttered. Sumit who had heard the noise suddenly felt cold as an ice tap. He slowly turned his head when in front of him he saw a towering shadow. It was the ghost of the librarian! She looked him down and said:
"'IF YOU'RE TAKING THESE BOOKS, YOU'D BETTER BE SURE YOU HAVE A LIBRARY PASS!'"

Jai bana I like your story. But your story is less of a scary and more of a comedy... but still you qualifies to be a writer of www.shortnscarystories.com
