Alex's mom shut the door and turned off the lights to his bedroom. It was already bedtime and Alex barely remembered what happened earlier that day. Alex closed his eyes tight, so he could fall asleep quickly. That didn't work, so he imagined big puffballs of sheep lining up in front of him, counting them one by one as they walked by. That was boring and repetitive and didn't make him any more sleepy, so he pondered over his day.

Trying to remember the events of a typical lazy Saturday was not easy, especially for a 12 year old boy. Whose days often consisted of video games with friends and greasy food, lots of it.

"Wait, there was that one thing, what was it? hmmmm." He thought to himself. "Oh yeah!" remembering after a second.

Earlier that Saturday while he was in the kitchen eating delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and steamy hot tomato soup he noticed his dog Joe the black Labrador acting particularly strange. His dog seemed to be afraid of something. Usually when the family eats at the table Joe the dog normally sits tall and proud next to the table, until someone notices him being a good pooch and is rewards with leftovers. But not this time, Joe was in the living room, looking scared and threatened, backing up against the couch, almost as if something invisible was provoking him. Happily munching on his sandwich Alex heard a squealing noise, Alex glanced into the living room and noticed Joe was now laying on the floor, panting, breathing hard, shaking. The dog stared into the kitchen, at the food, no at Alex.

"You okay boy? You want some food?" Alex said. Joe got up slowly, still shaking, staring and now panting even more. Now Alex was a bit worried so he walked into the living room to give Joe a bit of his grilled cheese. But the closer he walked towards his dear pup, the more scared he got. Joe couldn't stop panting and drooling, all the while staring at Alex. The boy didn't know what to do so he just kind of threw the rest of his sandwich on the ground next to the dog. "Grrrrrrrr!!!." growled Joe. This scared Alex and he ran outside. "Joe never growls at me!" Alex said in a mad voice.

"Yeah that was weird" was Alex's last thought before he fell asleep. He dreamed of himself in his own house in the living room again, except it was just him. He could smell something cooking, something good he guessed. "Mom" Alex called, "I'm hungry". Alex didn't here a reply so he got up from the living room couch and walked towards the kitchen. He saw his mom making food..with Joe right by her side, watching her every move, as though he understood what was going on. "Mom" Alex said, but it was as though she couldn't hear him, but the dog looked. Where a once cute fuzzy face had been, something else turned towards Alex, a nasty drooling creature thing, with sharp teeth and red eyes. "Ahhh! Mom!" As Alex yelled the creature attacked Alex's mother. Blood and hair flew everywhere, the sound of Alex screaming in his dream mixed with the sound of the dog and his mom being attacked was too much for him.

He woke up screaming in his bed, drenched in sweet and his heart vibrating his whole body. It was pitch black, clearly still night. There was a knock on the door. "Mom! Mommm!!" Alex yelled. The door opened and the silhouette of Alex's mom walked in, making her way towards the bed where Alex was. Stopping in front of Alex, standing "Whats the matter sweetie?" "It was horrible, I had a bad dweam, a na..naa..nightmare." Alex spit out as properly as he could. "Heh, heh, heh..." his mom breathed. "wha? and then I was in the living room and I went in-into the kitchen and Joe.." His mom began to breathe heavy, panting. "W-wait, Mom?" Alex said through tears and a stutter.

"Grrrrrr!..."
