Laying In Bed

As one of my favorite shows ended, I turned off my tv and layed in bed. The room was pretty much pitch black with the exception of my computer power button light...which lit up no more than a child's night light. I started thinking to myself about what I wanted to do for this year's Halloween. "Should I rent a bunch of scary movies" I thought to myself..."or should I get some drinks with my friends and do something crazy?" I've heard about people playing the Ouija Board or attempting to summon the spirit of "Bloody Mary" in the mirror, but I was never one to play with stuff like that. Even though I didn't believe too much in these types of "games", I always thought - What if?...

Anyhow, as I layed there thinking - I began to close my eyes in an attempt to get some sleep. Unfortunately, due to the great idea of planning these creepy things for Halloween, I began to let my imagination get the best of me. Or so I thought. I could begin to feel a presence in my dark room as if someone or something was watching me. I was tired, but not enough to start dreaming. At one point, I could have sworn something was sitting at the end of my bed looking at me. But luckily, as soon as I was able to get a clear image of my bed, nothing seemed to be there. Thank god for the computer light or I would have gone crazy with just that thought. Have you ever thought about possible horrifying moments happening to you? That's all that I could think of. In fact, the uncomfortable feeling had already created physical changes. I moved my feet away from the sides and end of my bed so that something didn't tap my feet in the middle of the night. Normally, I'm the brave one of the house but for some reason - this was NOT my night. My dad always told me when I was really young, "If you think of demons and the devil too much - it will become real." This was his attempt to force me to think of good things to sleep easier at night so i wouldn't bother him. I knew this was nonsesnse, but I really should have followed his advise.

I created horrifying images in my head with the closing of my eyes. What if some demon just opened my bedroom door and ran in at me? What if there was something outside my window staring in at me? What if the moment I got out of bed, something would be laying there waiting? All these childhood scares were becoming dreadfully scary.

I began to hear footsteps in my living room. It wasn't the dog because his steps are faster and you could hear his paw nails on the floor. These footsteps were of something heavier. I could hear noises like the kitchen pans being moved a little. Kind of like a finger pushing the pan an inch or two..then waiting a second..then pushing again..

I thought to myself, "I just need to force myself to sleep" and attempted to block out all thoughts. This seemed to work. I could tell the computer light was helping because of the slight light gloom I could feel over my closed eye lids....I began to dose off. The light really was my best friend for those few moments.

That is, until I felt the light go dark as if someone walked past it.
