Just Another Normal Carwash

Time has passed. The case I attempted to crack for 5 years has been called off and closed. It remained closed for another year but by coincidence or maybe supernatural help I ran across the key of the case I worked on for 5 years. It was in the summer of 2008 sometime in August when I got a call from my client. Her daughter has gone missing along with her boyfriend. One might think that this is a simple search mission for the police. I thought that it was a simple search mission as well until I heard her say over the phone, "She hung up right when she entered the carwash." After that I knew that my client's daughter was dead. She wasn't the only one who went missing. Several others disappeared into thin air and always their last known location was "the carwash". No one knew what carwash it was or where. Not until now.

It was April 18 of 2013 when I stumbled onto the first clue. I was visiting my client attempting to comfort her and inform her of the closing of the case.

"Would you like some coffee Ted?"

I shook my head and gestured her to sit down with me by the coffee table.

"Ms. J, I am very sorry to inform you that..." I began but she cut me off.

"I know Ted, it has been 5 years and I have been dreading this day," she put her coffee on the table," They have given up haven't they?" I nodded.

"But I would still like you to know that I will continue to work on this case," I said gravely.

"You are a noble man but it is about time to give up. The killer and I have given up as well."

"You don't need to I will find her and..."

There was a clink and a splash as the coffee spilt all over the table.

"Oh I am so sorry, would you mind running down to the bathroom and grab a couple of napkins?" Ms. J said shakily.

I got up and walked down the hallway towards the bathroom. Little did I notice hallway getting darker and colder. By the time I reached the bathroom the hallway was practically black and ice cold.

"What the hell?"

I looked around. There was a draft coming from a room to my right. I have been in several gunfights over the years but words could not describe the fear I felt as I gazed into the room. It had a fraying white wallpaper with female appliances neatly arranged on the desks and shelves. A picture of a young man with a girl stood near the bed. The temperature grew colder.

Bzzt!

I jumped at the sound and looked towards its direction. A cell phone was glowing dimly on the pillow. Without asking for permission I quickly grabbed the cell phone and finished my errand, glad to be away from the eerie room. "Took you a while," Ms. J said grabbing a couple of napkins to wipe the spill.

I stood up and walked towards the door.

"Going already Ted?"

"I have a...a few errands I must finish down at the police station," I lied, "By the way just curious but did you deactivate your daughter's Verizon plan yet?"

"Yes why?" She replied

"Nothing," I said hastily as I shut the door. I took out the cell phone as I walked towards my parked car. There was a notification for an unread text message blinking on the status bar.

"Deactivated my ass," I muttered to myself.

I opened the message. It read: We were at 68 C**l St. San Jose.

That location...where have I seen it before? Curiosity took me and I hastily made way towards the location.

A car wash soon came into view. It was an old fashioned automatic spin scrubber but something felt really off about it. I parked at the entrance to the carwash and got off.

"Hello anyone here?" I called out. I cussed silently at myself for being a dumbass. It was 11 pm who would still be around this abandoned part of town?

The temperature dropped and the streetlights slowly became dimmer as if a heavy fog was covering it.

VRRRRRM!

My car's engines suddenly started up and inched forward entering the carwash. I ran towards my car drawing my gun and yelling at the supposed car thief to get out. I was right behind my car when I heard the sounds. At first it was a small whir of machinery as the car wash automatically began. Then I heard the deafening screech and crunch as metal along with leather were ripped apart by thousands of spinning...blades.

"What in the actual fuck?" I breathed as I witnessed the spectacle.

My car was being decimated in front of my very eyes. I ran to the exit and as I feared thousands of small pieces were in place of where my car stood a few seconds ago. Soon the water turned on and washed the pieces away but by that time I knew what had happened to the victims of the case. I was on the verge of vomiting but I managed to call for backup before I did.

As I sat down I felt my pocket for the girl's phone. It was gone. In its place I found a piece of paper with words neatly written on it.

It read: Who texted phone? :)
