Ganell raced through the forest as fast as her legs could take her. If only I hadn't been so mean to her… she thought. She heard a scream, and then something grabbed her.
Everything went black.

"Well, that was exciting!" Alyssa said, smiling at the camera. "I guess Ganell wasn't up to the test. When we come back on Fear Forest, our next contestant, Bernice, will take try to escape."
Alyssa waved at the camera until the director called cut.
"This show is invigorating," she said. "It's the best job I've ever taken."
The director smiled at her. "Yes, it's nice to have some revenge once in a while, isn't it?"
Alyssa smiled back. "Of course it is, Mort. Watching all my enemies die in the Fear Forest is amazing. What's better, nobody can stop me. Everyone thinks its a hoax, that all the contestants go home after getting caught. But it's not, it's really not." Alyssa laughed.
She walked to her dressing room and refreshed her makeup. On her desk was a picture of her ex-boyfriend, Kayleb. By ex-, I mean ex-living. Ganell and her group had killed him. And now, Alyssa would get her revenge on all of them. Every last one.
As Alyssa walked back out onstage, she heard a commotion coming from the television room. "What's going on in there?" she said. One of the interns ran up to her. "There's been a mistake in the system," he said quickly. "the wrong contestant has been released into the Fear Forest!" Alyssa raced to the screen and looked. The boy stumbling through the forest was none other than Kayleb. "What is he doing here?" she yelled. "We don't know," another intern said. "He just showed up out of the blue."
"Well get him out of there!" Alyssa yelled, louder this time.
"I'm afraid we can't do that," a voice said from behind her.
ALyssa whipped around to see Mort. "Why not?!" she said.
"Because you designed the Fear Forest so that nobody could get out. The only way for him to escape would be for somebody to go in and get him."
Alyssa gulped, realizing what that would mean for her.
She turned and walked toward the set. "Put me on camera," she said.
"Now."

"Weeeeelcome back to Fear Forest!" Alyssa said as the camera came on. "Today is a special event. Bernice decided to be cowardly and send someone else into the Fear Forest, so I will be going in there instead! Now, the rules of a two person tournament are simple: we must find each other and escape the Fear Forest. If one of us is caught, it's game over. I'm going to get ready now to go in, and with the help of a special headband camera, you'll be able to see what it's really like in the Fear Forest."
Mort called cut, and Alyssa raced off the set. She grabbed her gear and set off into the Fear Forest arena.

"Kayleb?" she called, wandering around the forest. She heard a scream and walked towards it. The monster was close, but kept its distance. Alyssa decided it wasn't worth angering the monster. She needed to find Kayleb and get out of there.
Alyssa found her way to the waterfall that was hidden in the forest. None of the contestants knew about it, but that was because none of them had ever managed to escape. Climbing on top if the giant stone sculpture, Alyssa could see the entire forest. "KAYLEB!" she yelled. He yelled back. "Help!" "Where are you?" Alyssa yelled. "Vines!" Kayleb yelled.
Alyssa knew exactly where the vines were. They were the place where most of the contestants got killed.
She raced through the forest until she reached the first vine. Every vine touched was a call to the monster, but Alyssa was not scared of him. Trapped in the middle of the vines was Kayleb. He had a huge scar on his face, but he was still the same Kayleb she remembered. Pulling a knife out from her bag, Alyssa began to cut the vines loose.
"That's not very fair," a voice came from overhead. "No weapons, remember?"
the knife disappeared just as Alyssa finished cutting the linal vine. She pulled Kayleb up and hugged him. "I thought you were dead," she said. "I almost was," he replied. Alyssa led him back to the waterfall, but the secret passage that lead out of the Fear Forest was locked. "You broke the rules, so now you're punished. Oh, monster!" the voice came again.
"Mort!" Alyssa yelled, recognizing the voice. "You'll never get away with this! You've taken so much from me, I won't let you take any more!"
The monster appeared. Kayleb screamed. It was huge, a black spectral form, with glowing red eyes. Alyssa walked up to the monster. "Hello, son," she said. the monster hugged her.
"That's your son?!" Kayleb yelled.
Alyssa nodded. "It's a sad story, but one for a later day. Now we need to get out of here."
She turned and whispered in her son's huge monstrous ear.

Mort dusted his hands off. Now that Alyssa was dead, he could sell her tragic story and become a billionaire. First her parents, then her boyfriend, and now her. How tragic.
Mort heard a crack on the glass that showed the Fear Forest. He whipped around. "Who's there?" he said.
"You've been very mean to my mommy," a tormented childish voice said. "Nobody is mean to my mommy!"
A giant hand came crashing through the window and grabbed Mort. He screamed, something he had not done in years. Alyssa and Kayleb came in the window after the monster. "Good job, Petey!" Alyssa yelled to be heard above Mort's screams. Within moments, he was dead. A small fire was started somehow. "Let's get out of here," Alyssa said, grabbing Kayleb's hand. They walked outside with Petey, into the sunlight.
Petey started to moan. "I know, petey. You can't be a monster in the sunlight. It'll be ok."
Petey shrunk down to the size of a small boy. "We need to find him some clothes," Kayleb said.
"It'll be alright," Alyssa said as Petey started turning into something that looked more human. His eyes remained black as night.
Alyssa took Petey's hand. "Let's go," she said.
"There are things to do."
