desperate Housewife

She'd learned to love and hate him at exactly the same time. Often she had fantasized of leaving, of starting a new life free of his emotional cruelty. But every time she packed her things to leave, something pulled her back in and she ended up right back at square one. Why do I have to love him, she thought to herself. The bastard obviously doesn't love me.

It had been six months since he had last made love to her, and even back then she had to be the one to initiate sex. Lately, he wouldn't even entertain the possibility of joining her in bed, choosing instead to sleep on the couch with the television blaring all night. Even though he wouldn't admit it, she knew it was because he was no longer attracted to her. She had all but begged him to join her in the bedroom last night but, he didn't even acknowledge the fact that she spoke to him. He just stared straight ahead at the TV, silently watching some ridiculous reality show.

He hadn't spoken to her in over two weeks. He outright ignored her presence. All because she had cooked his steak too long. The bastard actually threw the plate at the wall, telling her he would break a tooth if he even tried to chew it. She had run crying from the living room, locking herself in the bathroom and sobbed violently for over 2 hours. Had he come to check on her? Hell no, he just sat there in front of the TV. She couldn't remember the last time he had actually gotten up from his spot on the couch.

This time I'm doing it, she thought, walking towards the closet to retrieve her suitcase. I'm leaving. Let's see how long the bastard lasts without me. He'll be begging me to come back within a week. I'll teach him a lesson he won't soon forget. She jerked her clothes off the hangers and stuffed them in the suitcase, not even bothering to fold them. Fuck it, she thought, I'll take his too. Let's see if the bastard can figure out how to work the washing machine when he needs clean clothes.

She zipped her suitcase closed and drug it into the living room. She stood in front of the television, blocking his view. This should get his attention, she thought.

"Earl, I'm leaving you! I'm sick and tired of being your punching bag. You're on your own now, and don't bother begging me to come back. You made your bed, now you can lie in it!"

He stared straight ahead, acting as if he couldn't hear her. Typical, she thought. He cares more about that goddamn TV than the fact his wife is leaving him. Suddenly she was overcome with intense rage. She picked up the heavy silver figurine that had been sitting on top of the television and with a swift swing of her arm, she sent it crashing through the television. Satisfaction and relief washed over her and she turned towards him again to gauge his reaction. This is gonna be sweet, she thought.

Still he didn't move. Not an inch. That sonofabitch, she muttered to herself. He's still wearing that damn bloody shirt. He hadn't even bothered to remove the steak knife that was sticking out of his chest. Reaching forward she yanked the knife from his chest.

"Do I have to do everything around here? You can't even do something as simple as putting the knife in the sink where it belongs?"

Fuck this, she thought, dropping the knife on the floor in front of him. I'm outta here. Picking up her suitcase she sauntered to the door. Turning around she gave him one last look, and flipped him the bird. Walking out the door she hummed to herself. This will really teach him a lesson, she thought.
